A D&H piggyback train gets ready to depart Hornell as 3 of my friends stand trackside and watch in the wee hours of the morning.

For a few years, starting in April 1976, D&H trains would get fuel at Hornell. The power on Apollo-1 is on the main as the units get a drink next to the old EL engine facility.

Apollo 1 stops at Hornell for a crew change. The D&H got 3 SD-45s back from the EL before Conrail started and just repainted the maroon stripe & EL logo blue.
